UPDATED March 2024: Get To Know Me

Hello!

I am nineteen now and when I wrote the first letter (below) I had no idea how important music and writing and DSS would be in my life. Here we are! Four years later. I didn’t want to change what I first wrote because I think it shows how far this site has come!

My goal was for DSS to be an artistic space for young people, and since I am legally an adult, I want to keep a bit of the beginning. Does that make sense? Anyway, hi! I’m Lana Fleischli. I’ve grown up around music my whole life. I’ve been going to shows since I was two, I have been a DJing since I was thirteen, started a zine with one of my best friends when we were fourteen. Then I started writing a lot and created this site at fifteen, and I have been so lucky since! I’ve gotten to work on It’s A School Night as the Music News of The Week host, write articles for Flood Magazine, intern at inspiring places, and promote shows in the LA area!

There’s a bit about me!

Enjoy!

December 2020

Hi!

My name is Lana Fleischli and I love all types of art. I really like writing stories or concert reviews, and I love to interview artists. I work on a zine with my friend where we interview many artists, specifically musicians, which has made me want to further expand my knowledge about art, music, and current events.

I’ve grown up surrounded by music as my mom is a talent manager. She works with amazing artists and has influenced my taste in music so greatly. So, for the record, I am not a musician. In fact, I’m not a professional in anything currently, as I am only fifteen. I don’t know much about music theory (yet), but I’m learning! I just love listening to it, so, I decided to create this site on a whim on a late December night, because I thought about my love for writing and my love for music. My plan is to write my opinion or interpretation on albums, events, artists, etc...

Enjoy!
